Lal Jose, the bold and daring Malayalam director after the blockbuster Classmates is making a film set in the gulf titled Arabikatha. The story itself and the actors make a difference.
Sreenivasan plays ?Cuba? Mukundan, a die-hard communist from a small village in North Malabar, the cradle of communism in the state. Under certain circumstances, Mukundan had to leave his village and go to UAE looking for a job! The paradox of it is that a fierce left wing socialist like him has to work in a state which has embraced capitalism and free market economy.
One day he meets a girl Chang-Chi-Min who has come from China, the last of the communist citadels . The meeting sparks off a mini revolution in his mind, and he slowly falls for her and her ideology. This is the crux of the story.
Lal Jose is introducing a girl Chang-Chi-Min (See pic) from south East Asia, of Chinese origin as Sreenivasan?s heroine in the film. The others in the cast are Jayasurya, Samvrutha,Jagathy, Salim Kumar, Sadiq, Nedumudi Venu and others. Iqbal Kuttipuram is the script writer, and camera is by Manoj Pillai.
Arabikatha is being shot now in Dubai, Sharjah, Abudhabi and other places in the gulf. Hussain(Doha) is producing the film under the banner of Microcoms.
